Camera Obscura! Posted in Uncategorized by radjuli - Jun 23, 2009

in the sprit of analogue, i thought i’d try to sew part of the camera obscura project on my 1945 Singer treadle sewing machine!
this was accomplished by 1) visiting my friend Bill Murray to procure some special bobbins (“long bobbins” in Singer-speak);
2) figuring out how to wind them-this involved an infuriating hour or so on the internet, scouring several US-based mail-order and sewing machine repair sites, who all wanted me to purchase a replica manual for the paltry cost of 19.95 USD; and finally 3) figuring it out myself. hell, i’m a machinist! i can DO that! so, or haha, pardon the pun, sew, i was off to the races!
here are a couple of shots of the machine: (more to follow, along with the video!)singer1.jpgsinger2.jpgsinger3.jpg
